We Remember

As part of the reunion ceremonies, an emotional Memorial service was conducted in honor of our deceased classmates. Marilyn Webb, a local minister and Class of '67 member, led the service. An enlargement of the web page entitled "We Remember",(a memorial page with pictures of our classmates that are deceased), was the centerpiece of the table. Twenty-seven reunion attendees, each representing one of our deceased classmates, held a white, lighted tea candle. As Marilyn read each of the departed names, a candle was brought forward to the memorial table and extinguished. When all of the names were read and their respective tea light candles were extinguished, a pillar candle was lit for all by Stephan Deen. The only sound during this moving memorial was the sound of Marilyn's voice as she recited each classmate's name. Marilyn then led the attendees in a group prayer. All were touched by the moment as we remembered our friends who are no longer with us. It is a moment in time that none of us will ever forget.

"Visited the Vietnam Memorial and paid my respects while in B'ville.  SGT Larry Kelly was a friend of mine and deserved a salute." ---Carter
